A five day course in forensic medicine and human rights featuring units such as:

1. Injury identification and interpretation

2. Medical examination of the victim of sexual assault

3. Examination and documentation of torture

4. Postmortem examination including a practical autopsy session

5. Presenting medical evidence in court

6. Psychological evidence of torture

7. The chain of custody and the criminal justice system in Kenya


Objectives

1. That learners can identify and treat a victim of torture

2. That learners can identify and interpret different types of injury

3. That learners can examine and document findings in a case of sexual assault

4. That learners can identify psychological symptoms of trauma and make appropriate referrals for treatment

5. That learners can cinfidentky and appropriately present evidence in a court of law
