This talk is meant to highlight the following aspects in anesthesia for pediatric dentistry:

  1. Anatomical, physiological and pharmacological principles important for the safe conduct of pediatric Anaesthesia
  2. Indications for general anesthesia in pediatric dentistry
  3. Preoperative patient preparation in relation to patient factors: children with concurrent illness, special physiologic needs- congenital anomalies and psychiatric condition and clinical settings: day case vs inpatient anesthesia
  4. Conduct of anesthesia for pediatric dentistry
  5. Post Operative complications associated with GA for dental patients

 

 


Objectives

At the end of the talk, we expect the participants to be well versed with:

 

  1. Pediatric physiology, anatomy and pharmacology relevant for the safe conduct of anesthesia
  2. Preoperative patient preparation, including referrals to relevant specialists
  3. Intra- and post operative complications
