Description
CHAMPS is a global surveillance network that generates and shares accurate cause of death data on child mortality. The CHAMPS network uses innovative approaches to generate and share knowledge that improves understanding and prevention of child mortality. The aim of the lecture is to equip the pathologists, pathologist assistants and laboratory personnel with knowledge on placental gross examination.
Objectives
To describe the gross anatomy, embryology and physiology of the placenta.
To describe gross variations and abnormalities of the placenta, umbilical cord and fetal membranes.
To describe placental grossing procedure.
