REGIONAL ANAESTHESIA
Objectives
After participating in the workshop, the participant will be able to:
• Describe and discuss the principles of ultrasound.
• Detect critical structures that need to be avoided to improve patient safety in regional anesthesia.
• Have a solid understanding of the anatomy and sonoanatomy of the femoral region, sciatic nerve and posterior thigh, the adductor canal, the neck and brachial plexus, and the abdominal wall and chest wall.
• Recognize and describe the sonoanatomy in normal patients.
• Real time practice of ultrasound scanning for regional anesthesia blocks.
• Employ ultrasound guided regional anesthesia skills to improve block success rate and patient satisfaction.
