Description

This Continuing Medical Education (CME) session will explore the role of emerging and advanced technologies in the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of cancer. With rapid advancements in oncology, technologies such as molecular diagnostics, next-generation sequencing, targeted therapies, immunotherapy, minimally invasive surgical techniques, and advanced radiotherapy are transforming cancer care and improving patient outcomes. The session will review how precision medicine, artificial intelligence in diagnostics, image-guided therapies, and novel treatment modalities are being integrated into modern oncology practice. Participants will also discuss the clinical applications, benefits, limitations, and cost considerations of these technologies, particularly within resource-limited healthcare settings. Emphasis will be placed on multidisciplinary collaboration, appropriate patient selection, and the practical implementation of advanced technologies to enhance early detection, personalized treatment planning, and long-term cancer management.

Objectives

By the end of this CME session, participants will be able to: Describe key advanced technologies currently used in cancer diagnosis and treatment. Explain the role of precision medicine and molecular profiling in guiding targeted cancer therapies. Discuss the clinical applications of immunotherapy and targeted therapies in modern oncology practice. Recognize the role of advanced imaging and image-guided interventions in cancer detection and treatment monitoring. Identify emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and digital pathology, in improving cancer diagnosis and management. Evaluate the benefits, limitations, and cost implications of advanced cancer technologies. Promote multidisciplinary collaboration in integrating innovative technologies into patient-centered cancer care. Apply evidence-based approaches to optimize the use of advanced technologies for improved patient outcomes.
