Description
The workshop trains Maseno University Faculty, JOOTRH consultants and residents in family medicine/obsgyn/pediatrics/general surgery on how to develop simulation techniques or scenarios that can be used in the training of medical students, interns and registrars in the various medical emergencies they encounter in the hospital.
Objectives
1. To implement a faculty development curriculum in advenced simulation based medical education in Kisumu, Kenya through collaborative design between MUSOM and NU faculty which will facilitate using SBME as a tool for medical students at MU.
2. To advance the ongoing partnership between Northwestern (NU) Center for Global Health Education (CGHE) and Maseno University (MU) Faculty in Kisumu, Kenya working at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH). This simulation project will be the second collaboration in this partnership for interdisciplinary faculty development in medical education.
